Vera probes those close to an ostensibly admirable young murder victim in an attempt to establish the events leading to his death and that of a drug dealer. While faced with potentially life changing discoveries in her own life, Vera steers her way through the evidence of grief, love, protection and addiction that surrounded the victim's life and deduces that his murderer acted through a selfless and unrequited love of their own.
